Robert Bedeski Receives an Honorary Doctorate from the Government of Mongolia

Professor Emeritus Robert E. Bedeski (Department of Political Science, University of Victoria, British Columbia) was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Institute of International Studies of the Mongolia Academy of Sciences in Ulaanbaatar on November 25, 2008.

On November 27, he received a Friendship (Naraimdal) Medal by decree of the President of Mongolia, Nambaryn Enkhbayar, at the Mongolia-Canada Academic Conference. Professor Bedeski currently holds the Visiting Aung San Suu Kyi Endowed Chair in Asian Democracy, University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky.

Bedeski is a long-time friend of JPRI and author of Working Paper No. 62: "The Chinese Diaspora, Mongolia and the Sino-Russian Frontier."
